Second Day!

The castaways had a busy morning setting up their respective camp sites, while thinking about their upcoming challenge later that day.  Timbira tribe ran out of water quickly, as the temperatures were rising.  So Tyson and the girls went to the river for more water.

The girls were instantly embarrassed by Tyson as he got naked to retrieve the water barrel in the river.  He explained to them that he didn’t want to get his underwear wet, as they would be doing a competition later.  He also told us on one-on-one that he would wear or do anything if it would get him to the end.

In the Jalapao tribe, Sandy would excuse herself and go look for the immunity idol again.  This is drawing comments from her fellow castaways, such as Sandy is anti-socialable, and she doesn’t like to be with other people?  But Sandy tells us one-on-one that she would be so happy to have them vote her off while she proudly hands in her idol.

The two tribes came together later that day for their first challenge.  Jeff explained that they were playing for flint (fire) and the tribe immunity idol.  It started off as a race over small sandy hills and through shallow water to a raft with puzzle planks on it for each tribe.  The raft could not be unhooked until all 6 designated runners had made it to the raft.  We saw JT make a big lead and continued way ahead of the pack.  JT could prove to be quite the competitor.

The teams had to bring all their puzzle planks back to the start of the race before proceeding to build a series of steps to the top of a platform, where 2 contestants had to solve the puzzle.  We heard Jeff mention that Carolina and Sydney were having a hard time standing up, and went on to say the heat of 120 degrees was taking it’s toll on the players.  We also see Tyson carrying back a big stack of planks, indicating that he is a very physical threat in these games.

Once all the runners were back with all of the planks, the building of the steps began.  Sandy started barking out orders for her tribe, as she quickly put up the steps.  But Sierra was also doing the same for her tribe, only much slower.  So Jalapao finished way ahead of Timbira, and were able to start working on the puzzle.  But in the end, Timbira blew through their puzzle and won the competition.

Back at the Jalapao tribe we could see people struggling with the vote.  Some were saying Sandy should not be voted off, while others were saying Carolina was too bossy and should go home.  So at the tribal counsel, Carolina was blind-sided with a majority vote to be booted off the island.  She complemented the tribe for doing so, and wished them good luck.
